Nicole Hughes


Nicole Hughes is a research associate with Synapse Energy Economics. She performs research and analysis and assists in writing testimony and reports on a wide range of issues including smart meter integration, integrated resource planning emissions from electricity generation, and the economic impacts of carbon policy. She has provided assistance in evaluations of proposals for investment in smart meter infrastructure, electric system modeling, analysis of water consumption of energy generators, and research of renewable system build out scenarios.

Prior to joining Synapse, Ms. Hughes interned at an environmental consulting firm where she worked on environmental impact statements for energy generation and pipeline projects and researched superfund remediation sites. She also interned for a non-profit in Santiago, Chile, researching the impact of development and increased air pollution on the local environment.

Ms. Hughes holds a Bachelor of Arts in Earth and Planetary Science with a certificate in Spanish from Harvard University.
