Home > Consulting Expertise > Staff > Anna Sommer Anna Sommer Anna Sommer is a Research Associate with Synapse Energy Economics. She provides research and assists in writing testimony and reports on a wide range of issues from renewable energy policy to integrated resource planning. Her recent work includes evaluation of the feasibility of carbon sequestration, an analysis of the SO2, NOx and Hg compliance plans of two Indiana utilities, and providing technical advice to clients in a regulatory proceeding evaluating a new, supercritical pulverized coal plant. Ms. Sommer has also participated in studies of proposed renewable portfolio standards in the United States and Canada. She has evaluated the equity of utility renewable energy solicitations in Nova Scotia and the feasibility and prudence of the sale and purchase of existing gas and nuclear capacity in Arkansas and Iowa. Prior to joining Synapse, Ms. Sommer worked at EFI/XENERGY and Zilkha Renewable Energy. At XENERGY and Zilkha she focused on policy and economic aspects of renewable energy. While at Zilkha, she authored a strategy and information plan for the development of wind farms in the western United States. Ms. Sommer holds a BS in Economics and Environmental Studies from Tufts University. |
