> Matthew Wittenstein Matthew Wittenstein Matt Wittenstein is an associate at Synapse. He utilizes his expertise in economics and finance to perform consulting, conduct research, and assist in writing testimony and reports on a wide range of issues from energy transmission projects, energy efficiency, integrated resource planning, economic technologies and policies, air emissions of electricity generation, consumer advocacy, carbon price forecasts and environmental compliance within the energy industry. Since joining Synapse, he has estimated the cost of emissions control retrofits in coal plants, investigated revenue decoupling strategies for encouraging energy efficiency in vertically integrated utilities, and evaluated macroeconomic forecasts for use in a large scale transmission system modeling exercise. Previously, Mr. Wittenstein worked as a consultant for London Economics International where he modeled the economic and environmental impacts of electricity transmission projects and performed various market power analyses of utility mergers and buyouts. He also has experience in the areas of finance, banking, and business. Mr. Wittenstein holds a Master of International Affairs with a concentration
in international economic policy from Columbia University and a Bachelor of
Science in Computer Science with a Minor in Physics from Binghamton University.
