Since joining Synapse, he has estimated the cost of emissions control retrofits in coal plants, investigated revenue decoupling strategies for encouraging energy efficiency in vertically integrated utilities, and evaluated macroeconomic forecasts for use in a large scale transmission system modeling exercise.

Previously, Mr. Wittenstein worked as a consultant for London Economics International where he modeled the economic and environmental impacts of electricity transmission projects and performed various market power analyses of utility mergers and buyouts.
