Internship Program for Energy Justice

Climable, in partnership with Synapse Energy Economics, seeks ambitious and creative research interns with excellent quantitative and communication skills. The ideal candidate is eager to learn about Climable’s and Synapse’s wide range of expertise. We value lived experience plus a commitment to public interest issues such as sustainability and environmental justice. We are seeking to expand the pipeline for candidates from BIPOC communities.

Requirements: This program is geared towards graduate students majoring in Policy, Engineering, Economics, Environmental Studies, Physics, Math, or related fields. Strong undergraduate seniors may also be considered. Knowledge about the energy sector is not required, but strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel is, and an Excel skills evaluation is conducted as part of the interview process.

Climable will work closely with Synapse to provide hands-on learning opportunities for interns. Synapse will provide meaningful learning and professional development opportunities including onboarding and training, inclusion in company-wide meetings, integration into consulting project teams, opportunities to attend conferences and regulatory hearings, and mentorship on both substantive technical issues and career opportunities.

Please learn more at the Internship Program for Energy Justice on Climable's website and follow directions from Climable to apply. The program application process is administered by Climable, not by Synapse. Please reach out to Climable if you are interested in this internship program. Synapse and Climable share office space, making this a natural partnership. The location is an inclusive and collegial environment with fertile ground for tackling climate challenges.

There are three internship cycles per year that are meant to align with the school calendar. The internship cycles will typically run from approximately mid-January through mid-May, mid-May through August 31, and September 1 through December 15. In the spring and fall, this internship will be 20-32 hours a week depending on class schedules and other commitments. In the summer, we anticipate 25-35 hours per week depending on the intern's preference.

Synapse does not typically hire interns outside of this program.
