Ida Weiss joined Synapse in 2024 as an Associate. She performs research and analysis on energy-sector issues including energy justice, electric vehicles, building and transportation electrification, distributed energy resources, and integrated resource planning.

Previously, she worked as an air quality engineer at Epsilon Associates, where she modeled stationary and mobile air pollution sources using air dispersion software and mobile emissions estimators. She also worked on environmental justice analyses for private projects in Massachusetts and New England, using publicly available tools and data to evaluate projects’ potential public health impacts. For her senior honors thesis, she collected air pollution data using a mobile air pollution lab in the Greater Boston area and analyzed spatial concentrations of black carbon and ultra-fine particulate matter using ArcGIS and Python.

Ida Weiss graduated magna cum laude from Tufts University in 2021 with a BS in Environmental Engineering and a minor in Environmental Science and Policy.
