Caleb Schmidt conducts research and analysis in the subject area of rate design and cost allocation. His work provides analytical and quantitative support for testimony in rate cases across the country. In addition to his rate design work, Caleb contributes to projects covering portfolio optimization, DERs, and utility-scale energy storage.

Before joining Synapse, Caleb worked with the Reading Municipal Light department as an Integrated Resources Analyst. There, he created analyses regarding time-based rate design, monthly rate adjustments, portfolio optimization, battery storage economics, and participation in ISO-NE wholesale markets. Additionally, while studying at Colby College, Caleb was awarded a grant to author an honors thesis chronicling a statewide utility municipalization movement in Maine.

Caleb holds a B.A. with honors in Government and a minor in Environmental Studies from Colby College.
