Improvements to New Jersey's Interconnection Standards for Distributed Energy Resources

Synapse is providing consulting services related to the Board of Public Utilities (BPU) Docket No. QQ21010085 regarding Grid Modernization/Interconnection. In 2022, Synapse reviewed a draft Grid Modernization Study by Guidehouse and assisted the New Jersey Division of Rate Counsel (DRC) with comments on the findings and recommendations to improve current policies and processes from the draft report. In 2023, the BPU requested public comment on draft changes to the rules for interconnecting DER resources to the electric grid in New Jersey and Synapse assisted DRC with comments on the draft. In 2024, the BPU issued a final rulemaking for stakeholder review and input and Synapse contributed to DRCs comments.
