Integrated Resource Planning for Hawaii Gas

On January 19, 2022, the Hawaii Public Utilities Commission issued Order 38189 initiating the Hawaii Gas (HG) Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) process. The order required HG to propose a work plan for collaborating with an advisory group on the development of HG’s IRP Report and Action Plan. The Hawaii Division of Consumer Advocacy retained Synapse to provide stakeholder support and technical assistance regarding the reasonableness of Hawaii Gas’s proposed methodologies and alternatives. Synapse is assessing the utility's methodology in terms of risk, affordability, and emissions reductions impacts of different demand and supply side alternatives.
