Investor Sentiment and the Future of Gas
On behalf of Energy Innovation, Synapse conducted research to evaluate how gas utility incentives influenced their role in the energy transition. The project began with an assessment of how incentives varied across utility business structures and the extent to which those incentives supported or hindered decarbonization efforts. Synapse also examined investor perspectives on the strategic, financial, and operational implications of the energy transition for gas utilities.
To inform this analysis, Synapse conducted a comprehensive review of literature, including academic research, equity analyses, and industry reports. In addition, Synapse interviewed experts in finance and utility economics to gather qualitative insights into investor expectations and utility responses to decarbonization pressures.
