Kayla Cherry conducts research and analysis supporting regulatory engagement with rate design and grid modernization topics. Her recent work includes evaluating statistical methods for analyzing time-varying rates and their load reduction impacts, disseminating best practices on transmission cost allocation for large loads, and identifying potential cost shifting risks in utility integrated resource plans (IRPs).

Prior to joining Synapse, Ms. Cherry worked at Deloitte Consulting, where she supported the strategic formation of decarbonization roadmaps for large clients across building and automotive industries. She has written reports for the Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) and conducted economic and environmental impact analysis for a portfolio of hyperscaler data centers. Ms. Cherry subsequently led research on demand flexibility and virtual power plants for Rewiring America during her time as a graduate student at the Yale School of the Environment. Her previous projects and consulting engagements have spanned across geographies in the U.S. and globally.
