Need for LNG Storage Facilities in Wisconsin

Sierra Club
Project completed.

On behalf of the Sierra Club, Synapse evaluated the need for a pair of proposed liquified natural gas (LNG) facilities in Wisconsin, which the utilities proposed as a way to meet winter peak gas demand. Dr. Hopkins argued in his testimony that that the utilities' load projections were overstated and that reductions in gas use resulting from efforts to mitigate climate change, consistent with state and federal policy goals, would make the facilities unnecessary far before the end of their useful life.
