Nevada Energy 2021 Integrated Resource Plan
Synapse filed expert testimony on behalf Sierra Club and Natural Resources Defense Council in Nevada Energy 2021 IRP in Docket Number 21-06001. Our testimony and analysis in Phase I focused on the company's plan to modify several of its existing gas plants on an expedited schedule. Our testimony in Phase II focused on (1) the local health and economic impacts of some of the company's existing gas plants, (2) the company's plan to continue operating the Valmy coal plant without a committed retirement date, and (3) the company's plan to modify an additional gas plant. We found that while the company is investing in renewable energy resources, it is also unnecessarily locking in reliance on a substantial quantity of gas resources for at least another one to two decades. The testimony was filed in August and October 2021.
