Synapse produced a report analyzing how electricity markets and regional economies would be affected by restrictions on mountaintop/valley fill coal mining in Central Appalachia. The report ultimately finds that alternative sources of electricity and alternative sources of coal are economic and available for serving electric load in the eastern U.S.
