Synapse provided analytical support to the Oregon Public Utilities Commission Staff (PUC Staff) in evaluating Northwest Natural Gas’s (NWN) 2022 Integrated Resource Plan. Synapse analyzed and critiqued NWN’s filed IRP on key topics including scenario input assumptions and modeling framework, electrification pathways and costs, alignment with IRP guidelines, and greenhouse gas emissions compliance obligations under Oregon climate laws. As a part of its continuing work for the PUC Staff, Synapse prepared a report outlining recommendations and best practices for future gas IRP processes. The report is Appendix A to Oregon PUC's Staff Final Comments Docket No. LC 79.
