Springfield City Utilities 2022 Integrated Resources Plan
Synapse supported the Sierra Club's engagement in City Utilities of Springfield, Missouri’s 2022 Integrated Resource Plan. Synapse worked with Sierra Club on discovery strategy and key points in advance of a public meeting, then supported the drafting of a written comment letter to City Utilities. The comment letter assesses whether the most recent plan integrates the impacts of the Inflation Reduction Act, evaluates the IRP in terms of its compliance with resource planning best practices, and makes a determination on whether the plan as filed would deliver sustainable, reliable, and economical energy for ratepayers. Synapse found that the plan did not adequately incorporate IRA programs, did not comply with resource planning best practices, and ultimately would not deliver sustainable and reliable, least-cost energy for ratepayers.
