Technical and Policy Support on DSM Implementation in Kansas

In Docket 22-EKME-254-TAR, Synapse provided expert witness services to the Citizen's Utility Ratepayer Board ("CURB") to assess Evergy Kansas's proposal to implement demand-side management (“DSM”) programs in its Kansas service area. In late 2023, the Kansas Corporation Commission approved settlements that allowed Evergy Kansas to implement these new programs and to institute an associated energy efficiency rider for the 2023-2026 period.

In the 2024-2025 period, Synapse continued to provide support to CURB as Evergy implemented the programs. Synapse participated in advisory group meetings and provided detailed input to CURB, with a focus on evaluation, measurement, and verification of the programs.
