Electrification Bill Impact Model

Synapse’s Electrification Bill Impact Model estimates electric and natural gas bill impacts for residential customers who switch from natural gas to electricity. Our model covers major end uses, including space heating, water heating, cooking, and laundry.

The model uses detailed end-use load shapes including detailed heat pump performance data. It can analyze impacts for bills that rely on complex rate structures, such as time of use rates. The model is also able to estimate bill impacts related to adding solar PV, implementing cooling and water heating demand response strategies, and replacing conventional vehicles with electric vehicles. 

Synapse used the Electrification Bill Impact Model to estimate the electric bill impacts for Oregon households of rapid building electrification.
